Reports today have suggested that Inter Miami are near the top of Gotze's list of suitors. The German World Cup winner has enjoyed a highly successful rejuvination in the Netherlands with PSV, with 18 goals and 18 assists in 77 games for the Dutch side.
Inter Miami have had a scout in Eindhoven for the past few months watching Gotze, who reportedly has a $4.2m release clause. Miami will have competition for the German, with Europa League winners Frankfurt and Benfica both rumored to be in for Gotze.
Miami have had a DP slot open after letting go of another World Cup winner, Blaise Matuidi, but have been unable to fill the slot because of the financial sanctions they are facing until 2023 due to Matuidi's stay at the club. A big name signing would follow Miami's trend for DP signings, so don't be surprised if the interest in Gotze's heats up as we enter the MLS Secondary Transfer Window (July 7-Aug 4).
Our coverage of Inter Miami will continue tomorrow as the Herons face Atlanta United away tomorrow at 3PM eastern.
